Amanda Jones is the co-founder of Kikoko, an organic, cannabis-infused herbal tea company helping women take charge of their wellness.
She created the company with her business partner, Jennifer Chapin, in honor of a friend with cancer who could not find cannabis consumables that were reliably low-dosed with packaging that captivated and connected with women. Becoming a “potrepreneur” was a radical change from her previous life working on assignment for newspapers and international magazines as a successful adventure travel writer, and writer for Vogue.

Funding For Female Founders Stalled at 2.2% of VC Dollars in 2018.
As Fortune reported in January, all female founders put together received $10 billion less in funding than one e-cigarette company, Juul, took in by itself.
Women represented 36% of the cannabis industry four years ago. Now that’s down to 25%.
How Can Women be Part of the Solution?
- We need more female investors supporting women-founded businesses
- Create community! Share information with fellow female founders and do your part to be a connector when possible.
- Be authentic! There’s plenty of opportunity for everyone.
- Diversity in all forms makes for a better company. Don’t be afraid to do things differently!
Born a feminist, Amanda has spent her life advocating for women’s rights and education for girls. She created a book on the topic called Potentia, she co-founded a non-profit that funds women’s law school scholarships in the Democratic Republic of Congo (the worst place in the world to be a woman), and she is on the Silicon Valley Executive Committee for Human Rights Watch.
Amanda has spoken at many conferences on the topic of women’s empowerment and the resulting advances in global economics, including the International Women’s Forum in France, PopTech in Minneapolis and Global Week at Castilleja. On the topic of cannabis, she is has been interviewed for television, radio and print media, including O Magazine, BBC, Forbes, LA Times, SF Chronicle, PBS, and more.
